Wekufe is a harmful demonic spirit in the Mapuche folklore...
The concept of Wekufe is ample, and has manifolds, uses, or subjects, quality or agents, depending on the datum-point or situation that are taken....
The Wkufe represent a group of beings that are material living organizations, subtle or extracorpóreas. They project or would come from the forces or energies.
They say that wekufes are characterized by their tendency to disturb and/or to destroy the existing balance between the sea and the Earth...
The Wekufe also have the power to capture and enslave the pillú (spirit of the recently deceased that is reluctant to leave its body) before it transforms into an alwe (more mature spirit).
These horrendous beings are invloved in diseases, destruction, death and other calamities...
Ever since the dawn of time, the wekufü have brought doom to countless worlds, and their legend spread throughout the stars.
The legends say that they bring doom in four forms:
famine, pestilence, war, and death.
They became known as the Four Horsemen of Apocalypse.
